Look, I won’t lie, I have a slight obsession with sunglasses. I pretty much want to own them all, but I can’t. But because of my passion for sunglasses, I can send you in the right direction of the really good sunglasses, not just the ones that Sunglass Hut sell.
Now Extreme Eyewear know really good sunglasses, and they have my favorite brand in the world…Maui Jim. Once you’ve tried the Maui Jim bronze polarized lenses, everything else will pale in comparison. I have Serengeti Drivers Polarized and they are phenomenal, but Maui Jim take a bit of an edge over them with their PolarizedPlus2 lenses. The lenses contain patented, color enhancing treatments in the form of rare earth elements to make colours jump out at you. If you’ve never worn polarized lenses, you really are missing out. And I’m not talking about regular polarized lenses. A grey polarized lens will still steal the colour from your life, it’s the bronze colour lenses that render colors true. Greens, red and yellows look like they have never looked before. By cutting the glare from trees, you the green that you are supposed to see, with no reflected white light to obscure the real beauty.
There are some really great pictures of the difference that Maui Jim polarized lenses make to your life, click here for that on their official website.
Maui Jim sunglasses were born in Hawaai and this has been the testing and inspiration ground for making the best lenses on the planet (Ignore Oakleys claims to this) My honest, number one tip for summer, is to invest in a pair of polarized sunglasses, preferably Serengeti or Maui Jim. If you can find a style of Maui Jim that suits you, buy them. You’ll only need one pair of sunglasses, and you will see a world that no one else does.
The Maui Jim Aloha Friday are your choice if you’ve been looking at Ray Ban Wayfarers or Oakley Frogskins, but you just want a far superior lens and fit. If you have worn Wayfarers for any period of time, you will know how the thick arms hurt your ears. The Maui Jim have much smaller, thinner arms that are so much more comfortable than their Ray Ban counterparts. These sunglasses are also made for a smaller face, so take note of that. While these don’t wrap around and hug your face, the fit is way better than Ray Ban Wayfarers. The lenses don’t lean away from your face, and you can find them in HCL bronze polarized lenses, arguable the finest polarized lens on the planet. They are smaller than the Ray Bans, but the fit is superior. It’s a very cool pair of sunglasses for those lazy summer days, pair them with linen pants and Sebago Docksides and I don’t think you can go wrong.
They’re available at the Extreme Eyewear Kiosk at V&A Waterfront, just next to Willoughby’s. But hurry…there’s only one pair left And they are exactly the same as the ones shown here, very, very awesome.
