The next Chapter of the ‘HALO Series’ brings to Cape Town, without doubt, the most exciting new Trance Artist to emerge from Holland over the past few years, RICHARD DURAND. Richard will be HEADLINING the 5th Instalment of the ‘HALO Concept’, a concept dedicated to the Global Sound of Trance and Progressive.

Having done remixes for the likes of Tiesto, with ‘Lethal Industry’ and ‘Flight 643’, Armin Van Buuren, with ‘In And Out Of Love’ and massive reworks of Prodigy’s ‘Smack My Bitch Up’, Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’ and Art Of Trance’s ‘Madagascar’, as well his production ‘Weep’ featuring the vocals of Skunk Anansie’s Skin, Richard has been marked as one of the hottest remixers on The Planet, with consistent playlist support from the DJ Elite, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules and Eddie Halliwell to name but a few.

The Richard Durand sound is Trance, Techno and tough Electro, in a unique package that’s both dynamic and devastating. In 2008, Richard’s schedule exploded into overdrive as the dance community embraced not only one of the industry’s hottest producers, but also one of the most technically accomplished performers in dance music today. Utilising up to 4 x CD decks and effects units, Richard Durand DJ sets are a whirlwind journey of cutting edge tunes, exclusive reworks, slick mixing and technical wizardry behind the decks.

Richard Durand’s show-stopping sets and crowd pulling DJ status is confirmed by his DJ diary, reading like a ‘who’s who’ of A-list events, headlining global festival brands such as Sensation,  Trance Energy, Planet Love, Coloursfest, Tunnel Electrocity and Summer Of Love, plus leading club brands including Godskitchen, Gallery, Gatecrasher and Slinky, a standout summer residency at Judgement Sundays in Ibiza and tours to every corner of the globe. He’s also joined the exclusive set of DJs to be awarded a coveted ‘Essential Mix’ on BBC Radio 1, as well as co-hosting shows twice with Judge Jules on Radio 1.

Richard’s most recent landmark on his rapid career path to the top, was his debut artist album ‘Always The Sun’ on Magik Muzik / Black Hole Recordings. Through the ‘HALO’ Events themselves, we endeavour to bring Cape Town a taste of this global phenomenon …with top quality Trance and Progressive Artists, both local and from abroad …each one carefully and specifically chosen, to perform and entertain, in their own unique way …displaying just how amazing, live Trance performances are.

For too long …this Culture has been both admired and feared from a distance …all the while, being the largest Electronic Dance Music culture on the planet.

The intention of this concept is to broaden Cape Town and South Africa’s views on Global Music, by inviting it to take part in this, the first step towards a truly International,
Electronic Dance Music culture.
