Cape Town — 4 December 2010 — The Kings Of Leon South African tour opened to the expected demand on Saturday, with golden circle tickets selling out before some had woken from their Friday night hangovers. And they’ll now be stricken with guilt hangovers after failing to wake up early and queue for tickets.
The Kings Of Leon tour is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated concerts of recent times in South Africa. While the likes of U2 have had great ticket sales, it’s the men from Nashville who have pulled in the crowds.
For one, they’re young. Secondly, you’re going to a rock concert, not a charity event where Bono tries to make everyone feel guilty about AIDS and poverty and then appears in GQ in a Louis Vuitton advert. While the Louis Vuitton advert may be for charity, we all know that the brand hardly promotes an equal world for all.
The Kings Of Leon are all about the music, and you can be sure that they won’t do a slow clap while telling the crowd that every time they clap, a child dies of AIDS. And we won’t need a crowd member to then shout ‘Well stop fookin’ clappin’ then!’
Ahead of their South African tour, Kings Of Leon drummer Nathan Followill tweeted the following:
“Australia and South Africa beware. We are gonna unleash a massive party on your asses. Stock up on booze now so I can have some later. ”
For South African fans wanting a taste of what they can expect, they are urged to buy the Kings Of Leon DVD ‘Live At The 02 London, England’
Tickets are available now at Computicket.
