The beauty in this show is that there is none of that new age rubbish about cutting down calories, fat or serving sizes. It’s a throwback to the old days, where you did the hell as you pleased. It’s all about meat, taste, and eating as much as you feel like eating. And it’s refreshing really, celebrating food in the old school way. None of that pretentious styled food where you leave, after spending R500, and you think ‘Shit I’m hungry’ This is all American and it is awesome. It also makes me think, if you had to go over there, grab a few recipes, and bring it to Cape Town, you’d have one rocking restaurant.
I really dig Guy, the shows host as well. He’s not afraid to eat, and all he has to do is taste all the food, no cooking required! Living the dream indeed.
Here’s a short bit of an episode:
Catch it on DSTV on The Food Network.
