I’m not sure if any of you ever give anything but it feels good! For instance I basically, essentially, totally give up my life for SLXS. Some say I’m a saviour, some call me the Mother Theresa of my generation, only I’m young, dashing and have the wit of a childish high school kid.

But giving really is one of the greatest things in the world, because sometimes we don’t give enough, if at all. It is tough in a recession, you’re thinking “Should I donate this R300 to charity, or just blow it on something mindless at the shops”

But something I really think is a worthwhile initiative and which I’m going to get involved in is called “Santa Shoe Box”

Basically iy entails filling and wrapping a shoe box, including gifts for children for Christmas time. You’ll probably remember Christmas time as a joyous time, where you used to open the wrapping of presents the night before to see what you were getting! I know I did, but then again I was a naughty little devil!

Unfortunately not everyone has this opportunity in life and for some, Christmas is just another day, devoid of the things that so much of us take for granted.

This is such a simple way of giving, and trust me, it will make you feel awesome. The gifts are also very simple but will really mean the world to the children receiving them. This is what your shoe box needs to be filled with:

  • Toothpaste  and tooth brush
  • Bar of  soap and wash cloth
  • Clothing
  • Educational supplies
  • Sweets
  • A toy

And that’s it! What I’m going to do is send you straight to the website where you can find all the finer details of drop off points (Cape Town, 20-21 October at the NG Kerk Church Hall, Kloof Street) and all that jazz. And do spread the word! Tweet this, Digg it, and spread the word of the Santa Shoe Box project.

Wicked cool!
