1 Comments Relaxing at Shelley Point Hotel and Spa

Article written by the brilliant Sean Lloyd on the 25 May 2009

Every so often, you discover something that none of your other friends have discovered and you think “Ha! I’m one up on you! You might have a hotter girlfriend and a better car…but I’ve found the Holy Grail!” (Very vain, superficial and shallow)

And this is what I was thinking as soon as I arrived at Shelley Point Hotel and Spa for my little rendezvous…um…albeit by myself…maybe.

As the car rolled in I caught this view:

It’s quite phenomenal. The hotel is a stunner, there is a golf course, conferencing rooms for the executives, a stunning pool to cool off and sunrises and sunsets to die for. The facilities really are endless, from the spa, hair salon, gym, to the Pro Shop and anything else you would ever need. Situated about an hour and a half from Cape Town, it’s an idela respite when you don’t have hours and hours to travel and get out of the city. It’s your ideal weekend break and makes the perfect option for executives wanting to host a conference, while in between everyone can book into the spa or play a round of golf.

It’s remote location gives you that feeling of being far from home, but the journey is not that far at all. Pump some Green Day, Snoop Dogg, Elton John — whatever — on your iPod and roll through.

It’s the basic premise of my life, just cruising. Get bored — go to a hotel! Get bored — write! Get bored — think of cool new ideas!

The Shelley Point Hotel, Country Club and Spa takes you back to your old holiday dreams of the sun rising and the golf course laying itself out before you as the buffet breakfast is presented to your delight. That crisp morning air courtesy of that thing called the ocean, the dew drops rolling off the grass, and the pool glistening in face of the sunrise. A quietness descends over you as you realise that there is nothing to worry about here, except for taking relaxation to a maximum level of extreme! It’s not hard really when you see the view, and take full advantage of the facilities. The view from the breakfast table feels like some stupid sort of wild, excessive dream, until you realise…wait…hang on a second…this is my life! I’ll show you three views from my breakfast table, all of them fairly average.

My favourite thing by far is renting out the golf cart and cruising around the course at high speed! Even though we all drive cars, there is something that brings your youth back when driving a golf cart. Maybe it’s that wind on the hair feeling, or that feeling that you’re driving something that feels like a toy, but I recommend gold cart driving to all those wanting to recapture their youth.

And even if this doesn’t work, your youth awaits you at the Shelley Point Spa. Pamper yourself and wash away the years, wash away that work stress and tension and surround yourself by the dream, immerse yourself in happiness. This is one place where time stands still and dreams are crafted.

It’s like that rejuvenation for the soul that all these people keep talking about, and sometimes you don’t know it until you’ve found it, and incidentally, I found it at The Shelley Point Hotel, Country Club and Spa. I came out there looking like I was 24 years old! The pool alone takes at least 10 years off your age. Seriously, just look:

My stay was brief, but I’ll be back. I’ll write my memoirs there!

But seriously, for anyone wanting some EXTREME relaxation, a spa day or weekend, time out to collect themselves and refresh, or for businesses wanting conferencing with a difference or product launch options, then Shelley Point Hotel, Country Club and Spa is your ticket to freedom and your ticket to live the dream just like we do. So I know you’ll love it.
