Johnny Depp stars in Hunter S. Thompson’s The Rum Diary
If you’re a major fan of Hunter S. Thompson like I happen to be, then you are going to love this. I also happen to be a huge fan of Johnny Depp, so right now you can only begin to imagine the size of the boner I’m sporting.
Hmmm…thinking about Hunter S. Thompson and Johnny Depp and getting a boner. Yes…that is weird.
Johnny Depp previously starred in Fear and Loating in Las Vegas, the film adaptation of Thompson’s book which is a literary classic. If you haven’t read it, you have to do it. It’s his crazed, drug induced tale of going to Las Vegas to cover the Mint 500 car race, but spending the money for the assignment on a suitcase full of drugs and getting horribly, horribly bent. It gets mental when they get so baked that they start seeing dinosaurs in the hotel bar.

Now the Rum Diary starring Johnny Depp should set us up for the exact same thrill ride. The Rum Diary was written in the early 1960’s but was only published in 1998. The story involves a journalist who moves from New York to work for a small newspaper in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Anything that involves Johnny Depp is cool. Anything that involves Hunter S. Thompson is cool. Combine these two and you basically have a fire waiting to rage war on your senses. With Depp starring it’s going to be an epic, mental tale told by one of the great actors of our generation.
Filming is currently taking place, this is going to be sick!
